PROJECT of  CULTURE INVENTORY of İZMİR
 

 

The Project which goes on since 2003 with contribution Archaeology, Turkish Language, History, Geography, Art History Departments aims at  disclosing cultural inventory of Bornova and Kemalpaşa districts in İzmir. Archaeological and Historical stages of  both two districts were complated. Art Historical studies have been continuing. When the project finish, it will be published.

Archeological Inventory studies have been performed by considering Prehistoric- Historic and Classical periods by two different staffs from Classical Archaeology and Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology Departments. These teams defined  totally 6 site including 3 cemetery named Ulucak Höyük, Yenmiş Höyük, Nemrut Höyük, Ulucak Cemetery, Kemalpaşa Cemetery, Çiçekli Cemetery in Kemalpaşa, 3 site named  Tepebağ(Pınarbaşı) Höyüğü, Anadolu Lisesi(Bornova) Höyüğü, Yeşilova Höyüğü in Bornova. From Neolithic to Roman and Byzantine periods were determined at most of  the sites in question.
